The newly formed division will be led by Tracy Malloy-Curtis, a 20-year veteran in legacy giving and major gifts fundraising for advocacy and social justice organizations nationwide. “MWD has been an innovator in legacy giving marketing for decades and it’s an honor for me to join the team and help expand an already-successful program,” said Tracy.

“Now is the perfect time for nonprofits to launch or upgrade their legacy giving program, if you have the vision, leadership support, and good strategic partners,” said Mwosi Swenson, CEO of MWD. “We’re thrilled to have Tracy join our team. She brings decades of experience and knowledge which will directly enhance our clients’ programs.”

Organizations that have invested in legacy giving and have made it a component of their direct response programs are seeing the results—they are healthier financially, better able to weather economic and political turmoil, and responsive to changes arising from generational shifts.

MWD believes that legacy giving prospects are some of an organization’s most important donors—after all, a single, large legacy gift has the potential to transform an organization. And the average bequest is for more than $50,000. We know from experience that direct response donors are highly receptive to leaving a legacy gift—many are just waiting for organizations to encourage this opportunity to become a bigger partner in their work.

As the largest generation in American history, the Baby Boomers, approaches the age where they are beginning to explore and capitalize on their philanthropic goals, there has never been a more urgent time for nonprofits to invest in strategic, multichannel legacy giving marketing. More than 10,000 Baby Boomers are now turning 65 every day and they are making important decisions about their estate plans.

MWD’s Legacy Giving Services

MWD’s legacy giving team develops and implements data-driven, integrated legacy giving marketing programs, providing overall strategic guidance and counsel on how to grow a program. We go beyond the off-the-shelf, generic newsletters and brochures used by so many agencies. We write and design multichannel marketing campaigns that combine the most powerful motivation for legacy giving—your mission and brand—with the strategies we know are proven to work.

MWD can help launch a new legacy giving program or take an existing program to the next level. We keep up to date on the latest techniques, learning and research, while adding to the body of knowledge.

Our team will also provide an effective analytical framework and metrics for long range revenue forecasting, as well as advise on and help generate key planned giving management reports on your legacy giving program.

“Legacy giving is a critical component of any healthy, growing nonprofit direct marketing program,” said Mal Warwick, the founder of MWD. “The growth of this fundraising practice at MWD is the perfect evolution of the company I started nearly 40 years ago.”
