I was truly fortunate to have had the opportunity to spend my summer immersed in the world of fundraising by interning with Mal Warwick Donordigital (MWD). My focus on analytics and data science provided me with a unique perspective and a newfound appreciation for the impact of data-driven strategies in supporting meaningful causes. This experience expanded my understanding of the fundraising industry and ignited a passion for leveraging technology to drive positive change.

One aspect that deeply resonated with me was the unwavering dedication displayed by the team at MWD towards the causes they championed. Their strong sense of ethics and commitment to making a difference set a powerful example, emphasizing the significance of purpose-driven work.

The environment and the meetings at MWD were equally inspiring. A pivotal moment during my internship was a discussion on the applications of AI within the organization. This conversation served as a catalyst, sparking my keen interest in AI and its vast potential to revolutionize various industries. The realization of the profound impact AI could have was a turning point that fueled my desire to delve deeper into this fascinating field.

Among the many aspects that made my time at MWD unforgettable, the digital buddy meetings were a source of genuine excitement for me. These sessions offered an invaluable opportunity to step back from the intricacies of work and engage with colleagues on a more personal level. During these conversations, I discovered the immense value of forming meaningful connections in a professional setting. Sharing experiences, aspirations, and thoughts outside of work not only strengthened my relationships but also enriched my understanding of diverse career paths.

My time at MWD was transformative and greatly influenced my trajectory and perspective. From the meaningful work to the inspiring individuals I had the privilege to collaborate with, every aspect of this internship left an indelible mark on me. I am grateful for the incredible learning opportunities and the chance to contribute to causes that truly matter.

The lessons I've learned and the connections I've made during this time will undoubtedly shape my future endeavors, motivating me to strive for purpose and impact in all that I do.

Angel is a student at Berkeley City College  who spent the summer partnering with MWD and learning about integrated fundraising and analytics. We’re so grateful for Angel’s contributions over the summer and look forward to introducing more young people to our world of progressive fundraising through our paid summer internship program next year.
