There’s a growing movement of employee-owned companies across the US. We want to share our story and encourage others who are considering an ownership transition to consider employee ownership.

First, a little bit about what this means to us. Mal Warwick Donordigital was built on the core values of providing our employees fair compensation and a rewarding workplace. We know that employees who feel valued are more committed and provide a better work product.

Over the years, our commitment to these values has led us to institute several benefit cornerstones including company-wide profit-sharing and vehicles for employees to build wealth—our 401(k) safe harbor program and employee ownership. Mal Warwick Donordigital has been an employee-owned company since 2001, and the vehicle that allows our employee-owners to share in the growth and prosperity of MWD is our Employee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP).

Why is MWD employee owned? Our founder, Mal Warwick, has long believed every entrepreneur who builds a successful business and later leaves it should share the wealth with the company’s employees, because the company would never have grown and prospered without them. That’s the fair thing to do. And the most effective way to do it is through employee ownership, which allows all employees to benefit from the company’s success and preserves the enduring legacy of MWD beyond the life of its founder or any single stakeholder.

How do our employee-owners benefit? Every employee is eligible to join the Employee Stock Ownership Program, and the ESOP receives yearly contributions from the company. ESOP accounts grow from these contributions and are payable to the employee when they leave the company. It’s important to note that no action is required to join and there is no cost to any employee, whatsoever.

How does MWD benefit? The better the company does financially, the value of the ESOP increases. So success is hard-wired into our corporate DNA and every employee-owner—not just leadership—plays an important role in MWD’s achievements.

EO Certification. Not only is MWD committed to our own employee ownership, we are dedicated to building a strong voice behind the employee ownership movement! In 2017, Mal Warwick Donordigital became Certified Employee-Owned. As a member of Certified Employee-Owned ®, we agree to meet rigorous standards of significant and broad-based employee ownership and we’re a part of a growing number of employee-owners and employee-owned companies who work together to build the employee-owned economy.

MWD has a rich and extensive suite of benefits that support our workforce, and employee ownership is one of the core benefits of which we’re most proud because it fosters the empowerment of our staff, continued transparency of our company, and a culture of teamwork where everyone works together to ensure a stable future for all.
